Andrew Tighe To Star In Thoroughly Modern Millie
Andrew Tighe will star as Jimmy Smith in the Boston Conservatory’s production of the 2002 Tony Award winning musical Thoroughly Modern Millie, which will begin performances March 7th, 2013 at the Boston Conservatory Theatre in Boston, MA.
Tighe, son of John and Alane Tighe, is a sophomore pursuing a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre at the Boston Conservatory. During his time at North Reading High School, he was nominated for Broadway’s 2011 National High School Musical Theatre “Jimmy” Award and was the winner of North Shore Music Theatre’s Spotlight Award for Best Leading Actor for his performance as the title character in the musical Barnum at North Reading High School. He was also nominated for the Spotlight Award for Best Leading Actor for his performance as Don Lockwood in NRHS’s Singin’ In The Rain in 2009.
Thoroughly Modern Millie features a book by Richard Morris & Dick Scanlan, lyrics by Dick Scanlan and music by Tony Award-nominated Shrek and Caroline, Or Change composer Jeanine Tesori.
Based on the popular movie, Thoroughly Modern Millie is a high-spirited musical romp that has all of New York dancing the Charleston. Taking place in New York City in 1922, Thoroughly Modern Millie tells the story of young Millie Dillmount, who has just moved to the city in search of a new life for herself. It's a New York full of intrigue and jazz, during a time when women were entering the workforce and the rules of love and social behavior were changing forever.
The show runs March 7-10, 2013. Show times are Thursday-Saturday at 8:00 PM with matinees Saturdays and Sunday at 2:00 PM.
