Hair stylist with 20 years’ experience looks forward to continuing to serve local clientele; Grand opening scheduled for Feb 16th

READING, MA –  Longtime Reading resident and hair stylist Leah Lam has opened her own salon, Leah’s, at 77 Haven Street, Reading, MA. Formerly with the Reading salon Embelleish, Lam has more than 20 years’ experience as a stylist. Leah’s will have one chair to start, and Lam anticipates hiring 1-2 additional stylists in the coming months. In addition to cut, color, multi-dimensional color, blowout, updos for weddings or a night on the town and waxing services, Leah’s will also feature Pureology, it’s a 10, Fairy Tales and Woody’s hair products and a selection of jewelry and hair accessories crafted by local artisans.

Lam, along with family and friends, has been working hard to finish the space for a grand opening celebration on Saturday, Feb 16nd at 5pm. Reading Town Manager Peter I. Hechenbleikner will help Lam and her family cut the ribbon for the salon’s formal opening. Clients and other members of the community are welcome to join the celebration (4.30-7.30pm), which will include appetizers and beverages, to get a preview of the new salon.

“We’re excited to welcome yet another new business to the vibrant Haven Street shopping district,” said Hechenbleikner. “This area has undergone a true renaissance over the past 12 months, with the opening of the 30 Haven condominiums and Zinga, and the re-opening of Reading stalwarts such as The Hot Spot and Sense of Wonder. The Town of Reading wishes Leah great success with her new endeavor.”

The daughter of a Mary Lawrence salon owner herself (in her hometown of Kokomo, IN), Lam has contemplated striking out on her own for some time. “With the economy improving, the time seems right to do this,” said Lam. “In my career, I have learned that each of us is looking for an individual  experience. Personalizing that experience in the salon is important to me. I’m so excited to begin serving clients at my new space!”
