Rep to Measure and List Homes in North Reading
The Assessing Office has hired a Representative by the name of Robert Brindle from the firm RRC to measure and list the homes for the State mandated cyclical cycle. The interior (list) process is to verify the interior data such as the number of bedrooms, bathrooms and square footage of the homes. The interior inspection takes approximately 15 – 20 minutes. The initial inspection is measuring the exterior of the home if no one is home Robert Brindle will leave a letter to contact our office to set up an appointment time. I don't like the idea of the government coming into ones home to do a so called inspection on any type would be violating ones privacy.

I would also like to know if this individual has a warrent to enter these private properties.

I'm pretty sure you can refuse their request to inspect the interior of your house...especially if the outside dimensions are the same as what they have on record. Just tell them no changes have been made on the interior.

They can Assess the value of your house by the outside and by any permits filed with the town. You can refuse, unless your filing an abatement. Be Polite and just let them know that you didn't file any permits for improvements (increase sq, etc). Laws vary by state but I never had a problem with them when I refused.
