55 Walker's Brook Drive: Keurig Corporate Headquarters
Reading is home to the corporate headquarters of America's favorite single cup coffee makers.
This week, Reading Patch will take a brief look at each of the businesses inside the 55 Walker's Brook Drive office space, focusing on one business each day.
The Keurig Corporate Headquarters is one of the four businesses that occupies 55 Walker's Brook Drive in Reading. The Keurig empire was built on their patented single cup brewing technology, the company slogan being "Brewing Excellence, One Cup at a Time."
No Keurigs or K-Cups (the single-serving coffee pods) are sold at the headquarters, but a wide variety of samples and Keurig products are available for guests. The office is mainly used for corporate functions and behind-the-scenes company work.
The company and technology were introduced in 1998. Today, Keurig is the leading single-cup brewing system in North America.
The single cup technology is based on the assumption that not all coffee drinkers prefer the same type of coffee, and Keurig allows individuals to chose from 15 of the world's premier gourmet brands such as Newman's Own, Green Mountain and Folger's. The K-Cups brew in less than a minute.
Keurig offers both at-home and away-from-home coffee brewers. At-home brewers are for personal use, while away-from-home brewers are typically larger and intended for heavy use in offices and work places.
The company has since expanded its K-Cups to include tea, hot cocoa and iced beverages.
Keurig also offers accessories, including K-Cup Carousels (a product designed to store an display K-Cups), water filter starter kits, one-touch milk frothers, and "My K-Cup" reusable filters.
