560 Homes Still Without Power

RMLD is working to restore power to hundreds in North Reading.

Several residents are still without power today, and it may be another couple of days before everyone’s power is restored.

According to DPW Director Richard Carnevale, there were 560 homes without power as of noon today.

Carnevale said, “They [RMLD] are planning to restore service “areas” with out power first (greater than 1-2 homes) (about 500 homes)-this should take about 2-3 day.”

The following streets, in no particular order, still need power:

  • Central
  • Shady Hill
  • Anthony
  • Eugley Park
  • Flint
  • Sunset
  • Oakland
  • Travelled Way
  • Adams
  • Swan Pond Road
  • Hanna Graves
  • Tarbox
  • Fernway
  • Shasta
  • Snowcrest
  • Lakeside
  • #109 Park
  • Virginia
  • 284 Haverhill
  • 48 Chestnut
  • Allston
  • Pine Glen
  • Forrest
  • Abbott
  • Lowell
  • Sunset

There are streets off the streets listed above that are not named, but will be restored. For example, Erwin Road is off Swan Pond Road. After they are restored, there are 60 individual homes without power that will be worked on.

Several trees are down on roadways, including Park Street near the intersection with Concord. The trees that are still down are tangled with wires.

Carnevale said, "DPW can't touch them until they are deenergized."

According to RMLD, their crews are continuing to work on restoring power with the help of line crews from Danvers and Marblehead and tree crews from Maine and Vermont.

The downed tree in that photo is STILL covering one lane of traffic on Park Street near Damon and Gould streets! That's a car accident just waiting to happen.

Can a town official or someone from RMLD please confirm that they know there are some homes on Kings Row without power?
