Best of Patch: Which Hair Salon is the Best?

Please vote for your favorite salon by taking our poll and by clicking on the directory link and writing a short review.

We are continuing our Best of Patch contest this week with hair salons on our minds.

Do you have a favorite salon in Reading or North Reading?

Here are some of our favorite places, but if we're leaving one off of the list, please let us know in the comments and we'll add it:

Voting in the poll below is open until 9 a.m. Friday. Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on the individual business' pages on Patch Places. Click on a business above and give a review of your favorite.

Please vote only once per survey.

Hi there ~ Jusy wanted to let you know you omitted the new Salon Fabiano on Main Street - which is wonderful and doing very well! Peter Fabiano also has an established salon in Medford. :-) Cilla Sorensen

Hi Brian,
Where is Chiefs? I would be happy to add it, but can't seem to find it's location or Web site?

Chiefs in a barbor shop on Haven Street. It's a father/son team (right?) and they do a great job on my husband's and son's (2 yr old) hair. They're also a great place to go for town news.

Bell's barber shop on Main St (which also does women's hair) is not on list - not sure if it is a "salon" but they cut hair there.

Lumina salon is a great place for massage and is always busy with everyone getting their hair done when I've gone for my massage appointment. The atmosphere made me feel welcome and comfortable the first time I walked in there.

Does one of the hair stylists do massage at Lumina now? I got a few amazing massages there over a year ago but I don't think she was busy enough b/c she wasn't there last time I checked ..the wine and snacks were really good too! Nice staff

Em-belle-ish is the best salon around. The stylists are second to none with customer service that is outstanding. They are extremely knowledgable and very friendly. It's brings a chic city salon feel. I know several people who drive out of the city just to come here. By far the best.

Lumina by far supercedes all salons in Reading. Even though it's a business, the feeling I get there is that it's not about them yet about what they can do for their community. We need more of this type of business in our communities. By the way, Sue is absolutely phenomenal!!!! You want the best massage ever, go see her!!!

Just visited Em-bell-ish as a treat for my 35th birthday and I had a great experience. Stephanie took great care of me and best of all made me look and feel beautiful. I have been a customer since 2009 and will not change them for any other place. They understand my hair and style since I started going there. The place is clean, treandy and fun to visit. My whole family, including 2 boys, go there now. Im so lucky to have Stephanie and Em-bell-ish in my life.

Stephanie at Em-belle-ish salon is by far the best hairstylist I've ever had. She not only takes time to listen to exactly what I want but offers her own spin and suggestions. She is not afraid to try new things and is a perfectionist at her art. My only complaint is that she's always so booked!

There is only one salon that is topnotch: Em-Belle-ish. The ladies at Em-Belle-ish are amazing. This is the salon to go to, hands down!! The stylists are brilliant, knowledgable, easy to work with, professional, and FRIENDLY. The space is in a great location, chic, and has a great vibe to it. You can't necessarily say that about some of the others on this list, and I speak from experience.

If you want an amazingly professional it and service, then head to Laschi's and ask for Franchesca. You will be so happy that you took my advice! She is young, innovated and clearly in the field meant for her!!! We have 3 generations going to her from 12 yrs to 71 yrs and she gives each of us an amazingc look that is cute and new, yet easy and age appropriate!!

The Salon on Haven is the most inviting and friendly salons that I have been too. I have gone to many high end salons that felt "catty" but the owner Jackie creates an atmosphere of warmth and professionalism. Plus they have the best foil jobs in the city for this blond!
