I am so happy to hear that this great restaurant is coming to our area.

Another Irish pub within, what, 500 feet of the other Irish pub? What is this, Brighton? Couldn't we get a decent Tex/Mex place? They drink beer, too?
Wonder if this will go up faster than the elusive Orange Leaf froyot place next door that was supposed to open on or before August 15th (2 days ago), but which looks barely begun..unless I'm looking at the wrong building. The Zinga store at Haven similarly does not look like it could possibly open this month - and even if it could, the sidewalk is still blocked off and unfinished.

Not a fan of Grumpy's. Hopefully this will be better.

M, I agree with Jessica. At least it's not another pizza joint! Can't wait to try it.

Haven't eaten @ Grumpy's, so can't comment, though it seems pretty busy, must be the booze. I'm Irish but no big fan of most "Irish" food, alas. Fully agree we don't need another pizza place/sub shop, nor do we need any more banks.

I've heard mixed reviews about Grumpy's, but haven't tried it myself. I did a quick Google search, but was unable to find a web site for Bunratty Tavern. I can't imagine Grump's is too happy about this news. I'd much prefer a Tex/Mex/BBQ restaurant. Oh well.

For me, "Grumpy Doyles" was a welcome addition to the town. As a bit of a beer geek I was happy there was a place I could go within walking distance which offered some interesting selections. As others have mentioned, the food has been sub-par; my wife refuses to go back after a couple bad experiences.

When they say "Irish food", I assume they don't simply mean standard pub grub. I really hope this new place has food reminiscent of "The Burren" in Somerville's Davis Square. Back in the day that place had great bangers and mash, as well a fish and chips / side of curry that made my British friend start to cry and want to phone back home to chat with his mum. If they can match that, I'll be there nightly.

Lets hope Grumpy's will see all of the comments about their poor food and takes this oppertunity to improve their standards.

Apparently Reading is not able to have one of something. 2 new frozen yogurt places, neither of which look even close to being ready, and now two irish pubs? I guess it goes with the two fast food restaurants, and 37 pizza places, hair and nail salons. Some originality would be nice!

I'll trade y'all an Asian place for an Irish pub :) here in North Reading\!

They should have opened an upscale Brazilain steak house/bar. That would be different for reading/north reading and in my opinion would provide a nice medley of choices downtown. Italian, Chinese/Asian, Irish Pub, and Brazilian.

Why isnt Keno in any restaurants in Reading? Or at least I havent seen any since that store next to Dunkin Donuts. I dont get it.

Reading Board of Selectmen refuse to allow Keno into Reading. P&S Convenience battled with them over this issue years ago and lost.

Keno ended shortly after the Donahue murder. Thats where the lowlife used to hang out.

Too bad, it may bring some more business into Reading....I would think the restaurants would love to have that.

I just hope that this restaurant is as great a partner to the Reading community as Grumpy's has been. Grumpy's has worked with EMarc, Girl Scouts, the DKJ Foundation, RMHS band and so many other Reading groups. There are many businesses in Reading that have not been as welcoming to our community. And I have to say that I have had some very delicious food at Grumpy's.

Is it true that neither of the froyo places are going to be going in after all? Just heard it from someone at Bell's...& we were wondering if Perfecto's cafe was EVER going to get put in across street at burned out tux store

I've been to Grumpys several times and we have had wonderful meals. The customer service was excellent as well. Really surprised by some of the comments.
