Why Go: This chess program is for beginners, for people who need to brush up a bit and even for seasoned players. There will be tables set up for players of all abilities. There will also be high school and middle school volunteers who will teach chess beginners of all ages. Chess sets will be provided.
When/Where: Saturday, April 15, 7-8:45 p.m., atUnitarian Universalists Church of Wakefield, 326 Main St., Wakefield.
Why Go: The Season Finale of the Standing Room Only series showcases the Concert Choir of the Boston Children’s Chorus, bringing their celebrated artistry based on a mission to “transcend social barriers in a celebration of shared humanity and love of music.” Opening for the Chorus is a group of specially selected student musicians from Lynnfield, Melrose, Wakefield and Winchester to perform classical and musical theatre pieces. SRO concerts benefit the Building Fund at 326 Main St.
Price: $25, $20 seniors 65+ and students.

Why Go: Exercise and have fun while enjoying skating at the Stoneham Arena.

Price: No cover charge, but there is a $10 minimum charge for meal per person.
