Cookies and Cream Bakery Opens on Haven Street

A couple from Alabama moved to Reading to open the bakery.

Every morning Zohreh Dadfar bakes cakes, parfaits, cookies and more in her new bakery on Haven Street. She makes everything from scratch and uses fresh ingredients to create her tasty treats.

Cookies and Cream, located where Sammy Jo's used to be, was opened by husband and wife team Feraidoon and Zohreh Dadfar who moved from Alabama about a month ago to open the bakery.

"My wife makes everything here," Feraidoon Dadfar said. She has a degree in psychology, but her passion is baking, he said. She became certified in baking after attending a school in Spain.

"I love my job," Zohreh Dadfar said. "I'm always looking to give something fresh to people, and healthy."

They offer a variety of desserts including an array of pastries, pies, cakes and cookies. Enjoy a cup of key lime pie parfait for $4.50, a large slice of cheesecake with chocolate pudding, whipped topping and oreo cookie for $3.50, baklava for $3.75, brownie bites for $1.50, cupcakes for $2.50 and more. Richardsons ice cream and smoothies will be available in June.

Order a cake for your next event, or have a birthday party right at the venue. Zohreh Dadfar can make anything you want with a days notice, she said, including character cakes like Sponge Bob or Dora.

They also serve breakfast and lunch. Menu items include paninis, wraps, bagels, crepes and sandwiches. Something you won't find in many other eateries: vegetable kookoo made with fried, chopped spinach, parsley, green onion, egg and walnuts. The kookoo is served with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, cranberries and a chipolte dressing for $6.49.

They are open Tuesday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Very overly priced - not worth it.
