District 6 War Sees Cyberspace Battlegrounds
Both camps have set up Web sites calling for investigation into family connections.
The political slugfest of Massachusetts' 6th District congressional race that has gained national attention is now extending to the Internet.
The Massachusetts Democratic Party has launched a website, "Tisei Facts," calling out Republican candidate Richard Tisei about his family's past legal issues relating to their business in the 1980s and 1990s.
“There’s no disputing that the primary source documents listed on Tisei Facts show that Republican Richard Tisei was closely tied to his family’s fraudulent enterprises, and in at least one case reaped the benefits of his family's activities,” Massachusetts Democratic Party Chair John Walsh said in a statement announcing the site.
And on the other side, the Tisei campaign has launched its own website, "Tierney Tales," which calls for an investigation into Congressman John Tierney's finances relating to the scandal involving his brother-in-law's illegal offshore gambling operation.
"I want the voters to be able to see a website that collects truthful and accurate information aimed at transparency," Tisei said in a statement. "John Tierney isn't going to give that to the voters, but I will," said Tisei. "I also want the voters to understand why I'm calling for a formal Ethics Committee investigation into John Tierney's false reports. He didn't report spousal income and he's required to by law. John and Patrice Tierney also have to pay taxes on income like the rest of us."
