October is National Fire Prevention Month, and Papa Gino’s is teaming up with local fire departments to help educate the community on fire safety and prevention. For the past 17 years, New England Fire Departments and Papa Gino’s have helped more than 2 million people by supplying educational materials and free pizza at fire safety open houses. The North Reading Fire Department is holding a Fire Safety Open House at North Reading Fire Headquarters, 152 Park Street on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Some of the exciting visuals include firefighters demonstrating the way to escape a smoke-filled room, cooking safety tips, fireprevention tips and Sparky, the fire safety mascot, interacting with the children. Each year, fires claim hundreds of lives throughout New England. Fire Safety Open Houses are geared towards educating the community and preparing them for potential fires. Each year, these Open Houses help to better prepare families in the event of a fire and hopefully save lives.
