CELEBRATING THE WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD
Where/when: Knowledge Beginnings, Sunday from 1 p.m.
Why go: This community event is in celebration of the Week of the Young Child and will feature music and entertainment, crafts, games, snacks, raffles, giveaways and more. The event is free but they would like families to bring an item to donate to the North Reading Food Pantry.
READING BULLDOGS OPEN TRYOUT
Where/when:Birch Meadow Athletic Complex, Saturday at noon
Why go: The Reading Bulldogs are one of the premier franchises in the Intercity Baseball League for both on-field success and quality of the organization. The Bulldogs have an open roster spots for the 2012 Summer season and are seeking players with current or prior experience at an advanced level of baseball preferably collegiate or professional. LIVE MUSIC
Where/when: Great American Tavern, Saturday at 9 p.m.
Why go: Enjoy dinner and live music by The Shotz in the lounge.

ADULT RUNNING INTEREST GROUP
Where/when: Memorial Park, Saturday at 7 a.m.
Why go: Join other residents for a recreational four to five mile run.
CHESS AT THE LIBRARY
Where/when: Reading Public Library, Saturday at 3 p.m.
Why go: Play a game of chess, or learn how to play. All ages and abilities welcome, but children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult.
