Five Things to Know Today: Aug. 23

Your guide to Reading and North Reading today.

 

Today is Thursday, Aug. 23. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. The weather. The temperature will reach 84 degrees in the afternoon and drop to 63 in the evening. Expect mostly sunny skies.

2. Free Cancer screening. The Hallmark Health Cosmetic & Laser Center will offer free oral, head and neck cancer screenings at 6 p.m. Registration is required, call (781) 224-5870.

3. North Reading Veterans Committee. The Veterans Committee will meet at North Reading Town Hall at 7 p.m. The September dinner social and update of 4th of July booth sales are two items on the agenda.

4. North Reading Lego Club. Stop by Flint Memorial Library at 2 p.m. for the Lego Club for children in grades 3-6.

5. KidSing. Join KidSing, choral program that incorporates singing and dancing, at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Reading at 3:30 p.m.
