Five Things to Know Today: Sept. 24

Your guide to Reading and North Reading today.

 

Today is Monday, Sept. 24. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. The weather. The temperature will reach 68 degrees in the afternoon and drop to 45 in the evening. Expect partly cloudy skies.

2. McDondald's. McDonald’s is celebrating National Coffee Day by providing free coffee for all guests from September 23 to 29. Enjoy a free small, hot Newman’s Own Organic coffee, a blend only available at McDonald’s restaurants in this region. 

3. North Reading School Committee. The School Committee will meet at North Reading Middle School at 7 p.m. An MSBA/SSBC update and NRHS Performing Arts school trip are two items on the agenda.

4. Reading CPDC. The CPDC will meet at Reading Town Hall at 7:30 p.m. A public hearing for the proposed amendment to the parking bylaw and a public hearing for the proposed amendment to the zoning bylaw regarding medical marijuana treatment centers are both items on the agenda.

5. Health Fair. There will be a Health Fair at the Reading Senior Center at 10 a.m. The fair is sponsored by Reading Elder Services and Hallmark Health VNA and Hospice and more than 25 vendors will be participating. There will be free Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure and Bone Density screenings as well as chair massages. Free drawing prizes and a continental breakfast will be provided.
