Five Things to Know Today: Sept. 27

Your guide to Reading and North Reading today.

Today is Thursday, Sept. 27. Here are five things you need to know today:

1. The weather. The temperature will reach 66 degrees in the afternoon and drop to 39 in the evening. Expect partly cloudy skies.

2. Hitching Post. Did you get your 2013 Sights of Reading calendar yet? They are on sale at The Hitching Post Gift Shop, which happens to be celebrating their 50th birthday this weekend with an open house on Saturday. Plan to stop by for specials.

3. North Reading Zoning Board of Appeals. The ZBA will meet at North Reading Town Hall at 7 p.m. There are five public hearings on the agenda.

4. Preschool Storytime. The Flint Memorial Library will hold preschool storytime at 9:30 a.m. Registration is requested.

5. Foreign Affairs Discussion. The Reading Public Library is hosting a Foreign Affairs discussion series for eight consecutive Thursday evenings that started last week. Attend to discuss current events and issues facing the United States. The discussion starts at 7 p.m.
