Greenfield Wins Division II State Crown

Reading High harrier J.D. Greenfield came home from the MIAA Division II State Indoor Track Championships with a nifty new addition to his trophy case.

Greenfield bested all comers in the 600-meter event at the state championship meet on Feb. 16 at Boston’s Reggie Lewis Track Center, and captured the state title with a time of 1:23—nearly a full minute faster than his nearest challenger.

With his top finish, Greenfield has earned the right to run at the All State Championships, held on Feb. 26 at the Reggie Lewis Track Center.

Greenfield’s performance was easily the top Reading showing of the day, and the junior also figured in the runner-up in that category as he anchored the 4x400 relay team, which finished a close second to Marshfield with a time of 3:30.6, and Greenfield brought the team from fourth place up to second when it was his turn to hold the baton.
