Horseshoe is head and shoulders above the rest. One of the best restaurants in MA outside of Boston, and at a reasonable price. Every time I go back to North Reading to visit my parents I always stop in at the Horseshoe.

Horseshoe Grille but my kids love the Hornets Nest subs, so I think it's a tie!

I'd say the Shoe and Andrea's. The Horseshoe has the best atmosphere and some great specialties. Andrea's has the best Greek pizza around and the best steak & cheese subs.

I forgot about China Cuisine because it was not mentioned in the article. It clearly has the best Chinese food around.

Toss up between the Centre Cafe and Lobster Claw... depends on whether I'm looking for breakfast/lunch or dinner. I'll give my vote to Centre Cafe.

Breakfast at the Centre Cafe is the best around. They won the Best of North Shore for this area. There really is no fine dining in North Reading, to speak of. Fortunately we have Burton's Grill, Teresa's and The Venetian Moon right over the town lines. Too bad we don't have a decent location for a truly fine restaurant. Until we do, we have pub fare and pizza joints, and frankly, one's as good as the other.

Okay. I've seen a lot of votes for the Horseshoe and the Hornet's Nest. No votes for China Cuisine for best Chinese north of Boston?? If it has to be one of the restaurants in the article, I'd go for the Horseshoe hands down. Otherwise, if this is an open vote, I'd have to go with the China Cuisine.

Hi Peter, you are correct. It doesn't just have to be a restaurant mentioned in the article. As long as it has a physical address in North Reading, people can vote for it. Keep the comments coming!

I'd have to say Hornets Nest is the best all around town lunch place, they have been around since I can remember and they even went as far to name sandwiches after local town places. Everything always seems so fresh in there. It isn't really a restaurant atmosphere so I believe the Horseshoe is the only place with atmosphere in NR since they have remodeled. Although their menu is a little limited. Hands don Center Cafe for breakfast and I love how they decorate for all the holidays.

Center Cafe is awesome for breakfast. (RIP Rafael's.) Lunch at the Hornet's Nest rocks - love the Chicken Parm. China Cuisine provides us frequent take-out and the Shoe's bar and food make it the best place in town to meet up with friends. Overall, I'd have to give hidden gem Mario's the nod - its authentic food with a family touch reminds us of pizzerias we've visited in Italy.

Mario's. The mussels adrano are the best around and the atmosphere is great with the recent remodel. A great value as well.

The Shoe is good, but I think a little overpriced for what it is. I can't believe nobody mentioned Captain Famous. Great subs! For breakfast, I'll bet many people have never been to the restaurant at the Hillview. They make a great breakfast! North Reading has a lot of good lunch and informal places to eat but I would love to see a really nice Italian place or a quality steak house.
