Hitching Post 50th Anniversary This Weekend
Celebrate the Hitching Post's 50th Anniversary this weekend at the store.
Celebrate the Hitching Post's 50th Birthday this weekend. The store is holding an Open House with specials, refreshments and entertainment for kids to mark this milestone.
The gift store was originally opened in 1962 by Reading resident Ann Wright. This year, they celebrate 50 years of being open in town.
Stop by the store between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday for the festivities. They will be offering “Gold Tag” specials (50 percent off select items) all day. If you spend more than $50, you will get a free gift. Just for attending, you will be entered into a raffle to win a $50 gift certificate.
Light refreshments, including chocolates from The Chocolate Truffle; Boston Cupcake Girl mini cupcakes; cookies from The Hot Spot; crackers, cheese and fruit from Calareso’s and non-alcoholic champagne from New England Beverage, will be served throughout the day.
From 11 a.m. to noon, Mr. Balloon Wizard will attend to create balloon animals for kids. Shortly after, at 12:30 p.m. the former owners and employees will attend to celebrate the store.
"I am most looking forward to celebrating this milestone with our wonderful customers & sharing with the former owners. All have contributed to the longevity of The Hitching Post," said Owner Leslie Leahy.
