At least today the Supreme Court has reaffirmed that police have the right to check the immigration status of such folks during such police stops...certainly a possibility that the reason why so many of these "Lynn residents" don't have driver's licenses (or have fake licenses that don't match their names) is that they are illegal aliens--or, as certain folks call them, "undocumented workers" (which assumes, wrongly, that such persons have a job-at best they are "undocumented persons" which of course is the same thing as "illegal persons" but no one in certain media outlets ever wants to say that...

Thank you M, I appeciate you schooling us all in the art of stereotyping...a Lynn resident driving without a license equals an illegal resident. WOW. Pretty sure we all know what "media outlets" you're tuned into!!

Peter - I am going by the story itself, which indicated that this person arrested was indicated, BY THE FBI as giving a false name. I have relatives presently living in Lynn and of course am aware that not all Lynn residents are illegal. However, if someone is arrested driving without a license (and it is more than merely forgetting to carry it with them - there is no record of a license for the person, ever, it has not been suspended, etc) that seems a pretty good reason to me to question whether such a person is who they say they are, whether he or she is here legally, etc, whether one's name is Morales or Murphy...last year as a test I looked at the patch police blotters for 3 months (I still have the info) and of the 54 stops in Reading for folks not having a valid license, 15 were Lynn residents. That is why the previous poster referred to "another Lynn resident" and why I commented...it is a frequent occurrence in Reading.
