Male Cited After Head-on Collision in North Reading

Both parties involved in the accident were transported to the hospital.

According to the North Reading Police Department, a Lynnfield male will be cited after a head-on collision in North Reading Thursday morning.

At 9:30 a.m. Thursday, several emergency callers reported a head-on crash at 31 Main Street in North Reading. Both the police and fire departments responded to the accident.

A 24-year-old Lynnfield male operator was driving a 2005 Ford Escape southbound on Route 28 when he became distracted or took his eyes off the road and crossed over the center line and struck a 97 Toyota Corolla, according to early investigations by police. The Corolla was being operated by a 71-year-old North Reading woman. Both parties were injured and transported to the hospital, police said.

The male operator will be cited for failure to stay within marked lanes.

Looks like speed was a factor as well. That is significant front end damage. The speed limit needs to be enforced on 28.

FYI. Speed was not a factor. It was a head on collision. The smaller car, The one in the picture got the worst of it. My guess TEXTING WAS THE CAUSE OF THIS ACCIDENT.......STOP texting while driving !!!
