Name: Rick Nazzaro
Family: My wife Martha (Grace), we have one son who is 21, and a senior at Bryant University, where he is on the Division 1 football team, and another son, seven...yes, seven...who will be entering second grade at the Wood End Elementary School in the fall.
Why Reading?: I am happy to be a part of the Reading community, and have been since I was five-years-old. I guess that makes me a true Reading-ite! We enjoy having both my parents and my wife's parents, and several of our extended family members in town as well. Reading has always been a town that caters to family and children... so to me, there is no better place.
Industry: Co-owner of Colonial Manor Realty in Reading (since 1989). Owner, Nazzaro Auctions (since 2009).
School: The University of Lowell
Hobbies: When I am not working, I enjoy being with my family and friends. I tend to be pretty social when time allows. My wife and I are fortunate to own a little place in Rockport, where we enjoy spending much of the summer, and weekends throughout the year. It is close enough to home, yet... is a world away! We just love it. Together, we enjoy gardening (waiting now for the tomatoes), seeing a live show... whether it be Paula Cole At The Shalin Liu Performance Center in Rockport, or a trip to the theatre in Boston with friends. We enjoy our Bryant Football games, and attending little league games.
Favorite Music: I still enjoy 80's classic club music, current country and pop. I am a fan of American Idol and The Voice.
Favorite Movie: What ever happened to Baby Jane?
Favorite Book: Rich Dad, Poor Dad
Favorite Restaurant: The Hard Cover and Donatello's
Other Interests: I enjoy fundraising, and am also a licensed professional auctioneer. On Many a Saturday night, you will find me in a black suit with a colorful shirt at a country club, hotel ballroom, or school cafeteria, where I provide services as a Master of Ceremonies and Auctioneer. It is loads of fun, and quite satisfying when funds are raised, perhaps beating past records. I am a Rotarian. The Reading Food Pantry is a cause I hold near and dear. I recently raised $1200.00 to purchase two shares at Farmer Dave's so Reading families experiencing permanent or temporary hardship could receive fresh vegetables all summer and fall. I raised these funds strictly with a Facebook and e-mail campaign.
Fun Facts: My wife and I graduated from Reading Memorial High School together. We credit my seven-year-old son for "reversing the curse," as he was born on the same day that The Red Sox won the World Series in 2004.
