Meet Your Neighbor: Suzy Axelson
Axelson is currently involved with a town-wide campaign to raise money to fix the Old South Church.
Name: Suzy Axelson
Family: My husband, Peter, and children, Tim (20) and Page (16).
Why Reading: When we were just married, I was in graduate school in Cambridge and Peter had gotten a job in Boston, so we looked for houses in towns within a commutable distance. We loved Reading right away, and have been here ever since.
Industry: Part time bookkeeper for Garnet Consulting, Inc. in Reading.
School: Dartmouth College, B.A., Religion/History
Hobbies: Spending time with friends and family, gardening, music, hiking & canoeing.
Favorite Music: Classical music, Broadway show-tunes
Other interests: Community work. Currently I am involved with town-wide campaign to raise funds to preserve the Steeple & Bell Tower at Old South. Visit our website for more information: www.readingsteeple.org. We are hoping to get everyone in town to donate a little, or maybe even a lot, so that this precious town landmark can be preserved and maintained. We need to raise $130,000 and it is a daunting amount. Also, I am involved with the Reading High School's Drama program's parent group, Parents Supporting Student Theater and with the Friends of Reading Public Library.
Favorite Movie: So many -- Singing in the Rain, The King's Speech, and most recently, Brave
Favorite Book: As a library lover, I cannot pick just one -- but for a great list, I suggest visiting the Friends facebook page.
Favorite Restaurant: Rialto, in Cambridge
Fun Facts: We have two dogs, Ursa and Cassie, both are loving and mischievous Labrador retrievers, yellow and black. I often walk them in the Town Forest in Reading.
