New Ten and Under Store Coming to North Reading

Ten and Under, a used children's clothing store, will open in June.

Need an inexpensive place to shop for your kids, that will also keep them entertained? Try out the new Ten and Under store on Main Street when it opens next month.

Ten and Under is a used children's clothing store that is located in the old Curve's space on Main Street. Started by sisters Brandy Previti and Brooke Bayko, the store will stock used children's clothing, shoes, toys, outerwear and some maternity clothes for $10 and under. They plan to open the store on June 1, Previti said.

"We are mostly doing donations," Previti said. "That's how we keep the prices at $10 or less."

The store will have a play area in the back of the store filled with toys for kids to play with while parents shop. There is also a big screen television mounted on the wall for kids to watch shows and movies.

"We are going to have benches to define the space to allow kids to come in and play at no cost," Previti said.

The sisters also plan to have story times for children and movie nights where they will serve popcorn and juice boxes. Check their website for event times.

The two sisters both have two kids, and realize how difficult it can be for a mom to shop. They also understand how expensive it gets, especially when kids grow out of clothing so quickly, Previti said. The idea of the store is to allow parents to buy inexpensive clothing and help them keep their kids entertained while shopping.

The store will have a soft opening in early June and a grand opening later in the summer, which will be advertised on their website and our Event Calendar.

Sounds like a great new business for our town. I am glad to see that their website uses words like “parents” and “families”, without using the term “mom” exclusively, as if moms are the only parental unit that shops for and with children. Please give us dads some credit.

Thank you for revising your article to be inclusive of parents of both genders.

I wish them the best and am glad to see a business fill that difficult spot next to Walmart. Sounds similar to the Children's Orchard store (part of a franchise which sold used children's clothing) that was once in that exact same plaza for a few years but it closed around 2007 or so, although other Children's Orchard franchises remain. They will have tough competition from stores like Walmart, Children's Place, and Kohls, which all sell (both regular priced and on sale) new children's clothing for around $4-$10 a piece already. However, the addition of a play area does set this store apart from the chains and seems like a good idea.

I am curious about whether this new business pays you anything (even a store credit?) for your clothing/toys that you give them and they resell (as Children's Orchard does) or whether they expect you to donate it for nothing and then they resell it? Like the Salvation Army, only without the tax deduction for you.

Joe where do you want to see OSJL? The old Stop & Shop or the Sears location

Bob great idea. I never thought of Sears. Maybe some one should contact OSJL about Sears going out. What harm can it do most people hate Stop & Shop for going up there. If they hate OSJL at least they will all be in one area. OSJL would be the best thing that could happen to the area for attracting customers.

very excited to pick up some inexpensive items for my two year old son who destroys all his cloths! A place to play away from the main door is a plus. I was a big fan of the children's orchard years ago! OSJL would be wonderful. Best thing I did was hitting one at Christmas time. I got toys, same brand as walmart that were even cheaper. Hey a family of 5 with one person working does what it can!!

On second thought why should Ocean State Job Lot even consider trying to open a business in North Reading again after the way they were treated the last time. By the way has anyone notice were they wanted to go is still VACANT. Maybe the people who did not want OSJL should post on here what they would aprove of for the Sears store location. Then companys would not have to waste a lot of time trying to open here and be turned off by a very few who do not want them here.
