Cornell West Visits Tufts, Predicts 'Magnificent Flowering' for Occupy Movement 

MEDFORD—West, a professor, scholar and activist, spoke to students and other members of the Tufts at Cohen Auditorium Wednesday as part of the Faculty Progressive Caucus American Democracy in Crisis Series. He spoke for over two hours, touching on a wide range of subjects. Of the Occupy Movement, he said: "I think that this coming spring we are going to see waves and layers of activism...this coming spring is going to be, I think, a magnificent flowering of awakening among young folks."

Candy Castle Pulls Up Its Drawbridge

MELROSE—Candy Castle is pulling up its drawbridge and closing for good on Friday, Feb. 24, as owners Vita and Tom Bugden of Medford have decided to retire after owning the store since 1985. The past two weeks have been the busiest the store has been in a while, Vita Bugden said, as word of the store's impending closure spread. On Wednesday, a steady stream of people came in and out of the store, and the phone rang every couple of minutes. "Oh yes, I guess it’s all over Facebook," Vita Bugden said. "I’m hearing everybody's upset that the store is going. We had people that come from all over—Malden, Stoneham, Wakefield. People who come down New Hampshire, or they live up in Maine, but they’ll still come back. They just like the store. They moved out when they were young, so when they come back, this is where they always come. I guess there’s not too many stores like this anymore like this."

New Mexican-American Restaurant Opens in Wakefield

WAKEFIELD—Eddie's Restaurant and Mexican Grill, which features a mix of Mexican and American food for breakfast and lunch, opened in Wakefield last week.

Wakefield Police pursued a man wanted on four separate warrants for larcencies on Wednesday afternoon, eventually leading to his arrest in Melrose.

Police said that they were notified that Lawrence McGovern Jr., 44, of 12 Rockland St., who was wanted on multiple warrants out of Haverhill and Charlestown District Courts, had been seen near Rockland St. in Wakefield.

Arielle's Cafe & Pizzeria Opens Under New Management [PHOTOS]

STONEHAM—Methuen native Leonard "Lenny" Collins bought the Stoneham establishment on Feb. 1. After spending years working at restaurants and retail stores in Massachusetts, Collins recently took the plunge by taking over ownership of Arielle's Cafe & Pizzeria.
