North Reading CodeRED Test Call Results
Police reported that the test call reached just under 6,000 residents in about 13 minutes.
Last Friday the town conducted a CodeRED test call using the Town Wide Emergency Notification System. They sent out an All Call to registered residents and businesses. The call reached over 5,900 residents in under 13 minutes.
According to North Reading Police, after the initial call, the system called all non-connected calls up to three times, which took over two hours.
If you did not receive the test call, visit the North Reading Police Department website and click on the CodeRED logo on the right side of the homepage. Enter your contact information, phone numbers and email addresses.
Police say if you do not have internet access, ask a friend or family member to add you to the database or fill out a form at the police or fire department, or Town Hall.

We got two calls. One about 10am and again at 12:26. This happened to at least three numbers registered within my family, land line and cell phones, and the first call was answered.
I would rather get more than one call than none!
Hope this system is put to good use!

I hope it's not put to good use... Otherwise we'd be having emergencies...

I got 2 calls on my home phone. I went online and registered my cell phone, but never got a call on that one.

The system worked great! The first call took 13 minutes to call 5,978 residents, the second recall was launched at 12:35 taking 9 minutes to pick up an additional 298 residents and a final recall was launched at 12:44 taking 6 minutes to pick up an additional 120 residents. The system performed exactly as designed and now that it has been properly tested it will be ready for the next true emergency.
@Ben Hicks, thanks for your concern, the system will contact you if your location is in danger! You have to test systems to be prepared for the real thing!
