State and local police searched the area around Tedeschi's Food Store after an overnight robbery that officers believe may be linked to a previous incident at the store.

North Reading police received a call that the store had been held up at knifepoint at about 12:15 a.m. on Sunday. The involved party fled on foot and was believed to have left the area in a green colored sedan, possibly a Honda, before cruisers arrived.

According to public safety transmissions, the suspect displayed a knife with a green handle before he left toward the rear of the store. K-9 units were called in from State Police, but officers were unable to locate the party.

North Reading Police Lieutenant Tom Romeo said the suspect is possibly the same person from a previous armed robbery that took place at the end of November. He was described as a white male with a black hood over a mask with a blue top and jeans.

"The investigation is in its infancy, but it does appear it potentially may have been related to a previous robbery at this location," said Romeo, who added that the man left with an undetermined amount of cash.

On Sunday, November 25, a robbery occurred just before 11 p.m. Police said at the time that an undisclosed amount of money was taken by the robber, who was described as a tall man, approximately six feet tall with a large frame and wide shoulders.

Though two employees were inside the store during the most recent incident, Romeo said that no one suffered injuries during the robbery.
