Stop by the Flint Memorial Library to see North Reading resident Suzanne Korn's stencils on display. The vintage stencils include her own in the style of Rufus Porter.

According to her website, she was inspired by early researchers, and traveled around New England "in order to view some of the few remaining original works of the itinerant stencilers."

Visit Korn's website for more information, or read her blog.

Suzanne Korn gave an outstanding presentation at the library last night, providing a wealth of information about Early American stenciling and wall murals, with a special emphasis on Rufus Porter, who painted the murals in the Damon Tavern Ballroom, and in several houses in North Reading. Thank you to the North Reading Historical and Antiquarian Society and the Friends of the Library for sponsoring this special program.
