Police Log: Thief Strikes Two Vehicles on Vista Avenue

1:28 a.m. A Summit Drive man reported two suspicious men with flashlights in the area. An officer spoke to the men, who were waiting to drop off a generator for an AT&T cell phone tower nearby.
7:20 a.m. A Charles Street resident complained that construction at Killam Elementary School had started too early in the morning.
8:05 a.m. Dispatch notified the Department of Public Works that a storm drain cover near the intersection of Hartshorn Street and Winthrop Avenue was missing.
8:15 a.m. A Vista Avenue resident reported that someone had entered her unlocked vehicle and stolen a leather work bag containing a laptop computer, Blackberry, wallet and $100 cash.
8:15 a.m. Another Vista Avenue resident reported that someone entered his vehicle at some point during the night and stole two GPS units.
8:31 a.m. An officer found a signed check in front of the police department. The officer was unable to locate the owner of the check and shredded it.
10:40 a.m. An officer responded to a report that a Reading man was staring at the female employees at Eric’s Flower and Plant Emporium. The officer informed the man that he was not allowed back at the store without supervision.
12:13 p.m. An officer informed two door-to-door solicitors that they needed to register with the town.
12:28 p.m. An officer responded to a “minor” crash between a Reading resident and an Auburn, N.H. resident at 212 Main Street.
12:55 p.m. Police received a report of a minor two-vehicle collision between a Stoneham driver and a Wakefield driver at the intersection of Ash Street and Main Street.
2:48 p.m. An officer responded to a minor two-vehicle collision between a Reading driver and a Billerica driver at the Stop and Shop on Walkers Brook Drive. The officer notified the Department of Public Works of debris left behind after the accident.
3:50 p.m. A Reading man reported that another Reading man had threatened him.
4:03 p.m. An officer notified the owner of Swissbakexpress that someone had found his store’s door unlocked.
4:10 p.m. Police received notice of a restraining order between a Reading resident and a Lynn resident.
6:48 p.m. An officer responded to a report of an injured coyote in a resident’s driveway. When the officer arrived, the animal ran into the woods.
8:09 p.m. An officer issued a citation to Jessica Russell, 22, of Stoneham charging her with driving an uninsured vehicle with a revoked registration.
9:26 p.m. An officer responded to a report of a loud group of youths in Washington Park who were disturbing the neighbors. The youths were leaving as the officer arrived.
