Police Log: Woman Reports She Was Pulled Over by Fake Cop
Notable entries from the Wednesday, June 15 police log.
1:20 a.m. An officer found a car parked at Gregory’s on Main Street. The vehicle’s occupants reported they were just resting while on their way home to Melrose.
6:50 a.m. An officer issued a citation to Hipolito Chavez, 37, of Lynn charging him with driving without a license in an uninsured vehicle with a revoked registration.
7:52 a.m. An officer responded to a two-vehicle collision between a Wilmington driver and a Nashua, N.H. driver near the McDonald’s on Main Street. Neither driver suffered an injury.
8:23 a.m. A Hancock Street resident reported that a healthy black cat had lingered near his residence for the past few days. He was not complaining about the cat, but wanted it in the log in case the cat's owner called.
9:04 a.m. Reading Police and Fire responded to a ruptured gas main near 1321 Main Street, closing the area and evacuating nearby businesses.
1:04 p.m. A Main Street resident reported that someone broke into her home and stole several items. Police said the burglar entered through the rear of the home and stole valuables.
3:07 p.m. The Fire Department responded to a fire alarm on Johnson Woods Drive.
3:29 p.m. Reading’s animal control officer responded to a report of two dogs running loose near the intersection of Forest Street and Arthur B. Lord Drive and found neither animal.
3:34 p.m. A High Street resident reported that man in a white vehicle with a light bar across the top pulled her over. When the driver asked for the man’s badge, he left the area.
3:40 p.m. An officer reset the traffic lights near the intersection of Main Street and Forest Street after receiving a report that the lights were not cycling correctly.
4:44 p.m. A Ide Street resident reported seeing two youths lying in the street near Reed Wax on Pleasant Street. An officer found no youths in the street, but several playing in the area.
5:45 p.m. A Haverhill Street resident reported that someone stole several credit card checks form her and cashed them.
6:10 p.m. An officer responded to a two-vehicle collision between two Reading drivers near the Starbucks on Main Street.
6:34 p.m. An officer responded to a report of two youths smoking near the P and S Convenient Store on Lowell Street. An officer located the youths, who showed that they were rolling their own tobacco cigarettes.
10:46 p.m. Dispatch made an entry in the log noting that the Boston Bruins won the Stanley Cup over the Vancouver Canucks 4-0 in Game 7.
10:50 p.m. A Briarwood Avenue resident reported hearing gunshots of fireworks going off in the area.
