POLL: 2011 Person Of the Year

Who do you think should be voted North Reading's Person of the Year?

If you had to choose a Person of the Year, who would it be? North Reading residents enjoy being involved in their town, which makes choosing a person of the year even more difficult.

Would you choose Teacher Deb Luciano who helped bring Fox25's Zip Trip to town? Rita Mullin, who does so much for North Reading that she has a park named after her? Lt. Colonel Dan McIntyre who came home last month after fighting for our country? Police Sgt. Mike Murphy, who will soon be the new police chief? Connor Doherty, a local Marine who just returned from his first tour in Afghanistan?

Take our poll and let us know who you would pick. Or choose the other option and let us know in the comments section below.

I nominated Connor Doherty as North Reading's Person of The Year. I mean no disrespect to the other nominees, but Connor was on the front lines and faced a life and death situation EVERY DAY he served in Afghanistan. Merry Christmas and we are glad you are stateside, Connor.

There are far too many great people who have done many terrific things not only locally, but globally. How do you pick just one person? It seems inappropriate to label one person as the person of the year when we have soldiers still fighting in a war and firefighters that are dying in the line of duty.

A vote for Connor is a vote for Lt Col McIntyre. Thank you for all your do and God Bless America! These are the people we should be celebrating and honoring!

Connor Doherty gets my vote! Not just because he is my nephew, But a U.S. Marine. It takes a special person to fight in a land that is not their own. Good luck Connor. Keep us safe.

Any person who is in the Armed Forces should get the vote. They are the reason we are free to express our opinions.

Sandy Carriker from the Food Pantry. All at the Pantry should be recognized for the efforts this holiday season and throughout the year. We are a fortunate community to have many individuals who can be NR's person of the year. Some already mentioned and others who quietly go about doing good for our community and our country.

Also, a tip of the hat at lest to Susan Magner our director of Veterans Affairs here in North Reading. She has done a great deal this year to assist all of our heroes.
