Protect Mass Children Links North Reading to Project 351
Protect Mass Children has a new North Reading Facebook page targeted toward the community.
Protect Mass Children, an organization that aims to end childhood sexual abuse in the state, recently launched a new initiative called the 351 Project. With the new initiative, they have created a pilot Facebook page specifically for North Reading.
The mission of the 351 Project is to create a similar page for all of the 351 cities and towns in Massachusetts, and 20 towns already have their pages online. In addition to North Reading, other communities close by with a page are Lawrence, North Andover, and Greater Boston.
"We will be inviting all Senators, State Representatives, local police, crime watch communities, media and the general public to participate in this major outreach initiative," said President Joseph DiPietro.
North Reading resident Leslie Kilgore is the administrator for the North Reading page. She has served on the Protect Mass Children advisory board for four years.
According to DiPietro, the purpose of the project is to educate the community on the dangers of sex offenders in their home towns, create awareness, involve the community in current events and more.
They are still looking for administrators for other cities and towns in Massachusetts.
"Administrators will be CORI checked, interviewed and put through a thorough screening process. Administrators who are selected will be asked to volunteer 10 hours or less a week on this project. Volunteers will be able to work from home, and college students will be able to earn credits for their contribution to this project," DiPietro said.
