Random Acts of Kindness in Reading

Have you noticed your friends or neighbors making a difference in Reading? We want to know about it!
Whether it's taking a stray dog to a shelter, taking out trash for a sick neighbor or helping out in a community garden, every random act of kindness is appreciated by the community.
We want to see how many random acts we can inspire across the United States in the 905 communities Patch covers. To keep the momentum going and it pay it forward yourself, here are some ways you can help others in the community:
- Volunteer at the food pantry, Mission of Deeds, senior center or a local school or church
- Pick up trash on the side of the road or at Memorial Park
- Donate can goods or other food items to the food pantry
- Donate money, clothes or other items to the Mission of Deeds

I've been saying this to people for years, if everyone took 15 mins a week to help pick up a few pieces of trash off the side of the road near their home, the towns we live in would be better places to live. Also, you would feel better for helping to beautify your neighborhood.

Good idea. I think I may have a better one. How about before a person's EBT card is replenished for the month we require them to do at least 20 hours of community service. Picking up trash along the road would be a perfect example. It would solve the terrible litter problem we have in a month.

Good luck with that pomeroy. If anything, our legislature will require taxpayers to pick up trash for welfare recipients.
