Reading Man Arrested in New York State with Pot-Laced Candy

New York State Troopers found over a pound of marijuana and 40 pounds of candy they say is laced with pot.

A Reading resident and his daughter have been arrested in upstate New York, after State Police stopped the vehicle in which they were traveling and found them to be in possession of drug-laced candy, according to New York State Police.

The driver, Gary D. Fox, 48, of Swan Road in Reading, was charged with second degree criminal possession of marijuana and fourth degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. His daughter, Kayla D. Fox, 24, of New York City, was a passenger in the car and also charged with fourth degree possession of a controlled substance.

Troopers pulled over a vehicle traveling south on the New York State Thruway in the town of Coxsackie around 11:23 a.m., and during a search of the car found over a pound of marijuana and approximately 40 pounds of hard candy that authorities say was laced with concentrated cannabis.

The drug-laced candies were packaged in bags with various different flavors, such as: butter rum, cherry, coffee, guava, orange, pomegranate, root beer and sour apple.

Both suspects were arraigned in Catskill Town Court and remanded to the Greene County Correctional Facility on $15,000 bail
