Reading-North Reading: You Spoke, We Listened

On Thursday we are going back to two separate sites.

We have a big announcement to make. On Thursday, February 7 we will be restoring Reading Patch and North Reading Patch back to two separate sites.

Based on the feedback we’ve seen from you, our faithful readers and advertisers, it was just good common sense to return these original sites. Now, instead of asking you to find the news and information you need from one site, each town will have one, dedicated place: right here: North Reading Patch or Reading Patch!

We know … well, why did you change it? We had hoped to offer you the same robust coverage of everything happening in both towns. We discovered tremendous support for our continued coverage of the things that matter to residents of each community!

Errr, I must be stuck in the seventeen hundreds. I always thought of Reading, North Reading and South Reading (errr, I mean Wakefield) as being three parishes in the same community. I am going to miss the news from the other parts of town. Guess I am going to have to subscribe to three different Patches.

This never should have happened in the first place. I'm looking forward to subscribing just to Reading, and not having to see another comment from JV, again.

Thanks. It is very simple to see & read the nearby patch pages - just click on the "nearby" button at the top of the page and scroll to the town you need. I am already someone who regularly reads & contributes comments @ Patch, but I certainly spend more time on the page (hello advertisers) when there is more content relevant to my town.

Well, I've been following the N. Reading high school fiasco, simply to make myself feel better about the Reading library fiasco.

They combined the two sites because that's what the people wanted.....they divided the two sites because that's what the people wanted. What fickle peopel we are....

Dave they did not combine to two Patches because that's what the people wanted. It was an internal decision from Patch itself.

Stan...at the time, they explained that the reason they were doing it was becasue people had asked for it.

Dave, I never saw or read anything where the people said they wanted to combine the two towns.

Dave, Patch claimed that people wanted a unified site, but that's utter BS, because the same explanation (practically word-for-word) was used in the many other site "mergers" that Patch did over the last couple of years.

I can understand lots of people not wanting to share news and info about both towns. Many times I had to stop and look to see which town was being written about.
But besides both towns being one once (students from North Reading came to Reading every day as little as 55 years ago.), there are still many connections in our daily lives. Having grown up and worked in North Reading all my life, and lived in Reading for 39 years, it will be difficult for me to separate the two. Of course, now-a-days, everything is "my town only and nothing else" is the general feeling. Wouldn't it be fun to find out how many people actually came from the other town, ""because they didn't want to be far from home.

Thank you for finally listening. The two Patches should have never been combined in the first place. Too bad it took so long for the Patch to see the light.

North Reading and Reading are seperate communities with seperate identities. I am glad to see the the Patch finally learned that the people and the advertisers did not wZnt to be combined.

I agree with George and d. liver, it will be great not having to listen to the biggest know it all who knows virtually nothing except how to spread misinformation and practice his cyber-bullying.

Not worried at all my friend, you have always come through with another head scratcher just when we all thought that maybe you had smartened up. Look forward many more chuckles in the future. But all bull aside, you are and always have been a good man who cares deeply for both communities, we need more folks like you.

I'm only getting Reading Patch emails since the split, even though I signed up for North Reading Patch long before the merger. Do I need to unsubscribe or something?
