RMHS Football Coach Recognized by Patriots as Coach of Week
Patriots Hall of Famer and Executive Director of Community Affairs Andre Tippett was at RMHS Tuesday to recognize Head Football Coach John Fiore as a 2012 High School Coach of the Week.
Reading Memorial High School Head Football Coach John Fiore was recognized Tuesday by Patriots Hall of Famer and Executive Director of Community Affairs Andre Tippett as a 2012 High School Coach of the Week.
According to a recent press release from the New England Patriots, Fiore was recognized due to his team’s 12-0 victory over Brockton High School on Friday, Sept. 14.
“I am thrilled to kick off another season of the New England Patriots Coach of the Week award at Reading Memorial High School with Coach Fiore and the Rockets,” Tippett said in a release. “I can tell that each member of the team embodies the values of mental toughness, determination and hard work. Coach Fiore did a fantastic job preparing his team for their game last weekend. The Patriots are proud to be able to reward his team and Reading Memorial High School with a donation to the football program. We wish them the best of luck throughout the 2012 season.”
Fiore was presented a plaque during the ceremony and he will also receive a $1,000 grant in his name from the New England Patriots Charitable Foundation for the athletic department to help fund the football program.
RMHS Assistant Principal for Athletics and Student Activities Tom Zaya said that Fiore was "very deserving" of the award.
"Coach Fiore is an extremely hard worker and takes great pride in coaching his students on and off the field," Zaya said.
Zaya enjoyed the ceremony and said, "It was a nice presentation for the students and especially for John."
Tippett's visit to RMHS will be featured on the show, Patriots All Access, which airs on Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. on WBZ-TV and immediately after on Patriots.com.
