RMLD Prepares for Storm
Here is a statement from General Manager Kevin Sullivan.
The following was submitted by RMLD:
“RMLD is well prepared,” said Interim General Manager Kevin Sullivan. “We do not expect this storm to rival the damage suffered from hurricane-force winds and trees laden with leaves.”
“Hurricane Sandy and other windstorms during the month of January shook loose limbs off the trees and compromised electrical connections have been repaired. We do not expect as much tree debris from this storm.”
Sullivan continued, “RMLD plans to keep staff overnight on Friday with all personnel from the Engineering and Operations Department including line crews, two tree crews, two crews of contractors and customer service specialists who will answer anticipated phone calls. We will also have a town liaison to communicate with the four-town fire and police departments and the DPWs.”
On Saturday afternoon, RMLD personnel will assess damage and customer impact and continue the restoration of power to areas who have suffered outages.
To prepare for the storm, RMLD suggests that customers charge their phones and computers before the height of the storm, have plenty of flashlights and batteries on hand, listen to our updated telephone messages and check our website. As always, assume downed wires are live electrical wires and do not touch. Call RMLD at 781-944-1340 when you see wires on the ground.
