RMLD Worker Injured While Repairing Circuit
A worker repairing a circuit on Eaton Street was injured and transported to the hospital.
A Reading Municipal Light Department (RMLD) worker was injured while repairing a circuit on Eaton Street after strong winds caused tree damage and power outages Tuesday night.
Around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, severe winds caused a tree to fall on Eaton Street breaking a pole. The tree also broke a pole on Salem Street and roughly 1100 customers were affected, RMLD said.
RMLD Engineering and Operations Manager Kevin Sullivan said an employee received flash burns to his elbow while repairing a circuit on Eaton Street in Reading around 8:20 Wednesday morning. According to WHDH, officials said the 39-year-old worker was in a bucket truck on a utility pole when the explosion happened, causing his clothes to catch on fire and the worker to suffer from second-degree burns. He was quickly transported to the hospital.
"He was taken by ambulance to Mass General. The extent of his injuries remains unknown at this time," Sullivan said.

People forget sometimes how dangerous the utility jobs are. People die so that we can have lights, cable, a telephone etc. Next time you see your utility worker say thank you. Just like our local police, fireman and Troopers they deserve it.
