UPDATED: Storms Leave 500 Customers Without Power
Reading Municipal Light Department is working on repairs this afternoon after strong storms ripped through the area.
According to Reading Municipal Light Department, North Reading has about 300 customers without power and Reading about 500 customers out as of Wednesday afternoon following a string of powerful thunderstorms that hammered southern New England.
In North Reading, there is a phase wire down on Francis Street, and in Reading phase wires are down on Minot Street and Summer Street.
RMLD Engineering and Operations Manager Kevin Sullivan said there are outages in all four towns that the company services.
In addition, RMLD Public Relations Manager Priscilla Gottwald said Wilmington has about 500 customers without power and scattered outages in Lynnfield are impacting about 250 residents.
Crews are working in all four towns and RMLD says Reading and North Reading power is expected to be back on by 5:30 p.m. Wilmington and Lynnfield should have power by 6:30 p.m.
