Phew! I finally got them to listen to me.  At first, they thought that I was one of those Japanese cats with the big eyes and waving paws.  Then they thought I could be part Persian. But finally, finally, they figured me out!  I am a Scottish Fold mix, the straight-ear sort. Did you know we come in both varieties?  I am definitely exotic with my wide face and huge eyes.  The artfully placed black splotches on my lovely white coat complete my special look.

I must say, my fosters are wonderful people, but they never understood that my slightly reserved personality was a trait of my breed.  I may seem unusually quiet, with my mellow ways and quiet demeanor, but I assure you I yearn for human companionship.  I could be that exotic love you are looking for, that’s for sure!

Did I say I could be reserved?  That is only at first.  When someone enters my den, I do head for cover, but just so I can check out the situation.  In a jiffy, however, I return to the middle of the room and seek out attention.  I may come and sit with you, or I may jump in your lap.  We Folds tend to be social in spurts, and then seek out some down time.  We are not high-energy cats, and no one would call me a fireball.  We do have our energetic moments and I am particularly fond of the laser pointer—although I can’t figure out where it goes. Anyway, when you go to work, I will be happy to hang out and nap until you come home.

Speaking of napping, do not look at that embarrassing YouTube video that they made of me.  I must have been dreaming:  there was a mouse, and I was chasing it.  No, there was an adopter, and I was shivering in excitement.  It was one of those fantasies that I was dreaming about.  And, yes, I was a bit hard to rouse because I do love my snoozing.  Ahhhh… it is so hard getting up from a catnap.  I am certain you can sympathize.

While I have your attention, I want to add that I am a petite little girl so I would not take up much room in your house.  I do intend to inhabit your heart and you will definitely be in mine.  Did you know that Scottish fold cats are very loving and faithful to their people?  Don’t you think it is really about time I get some people?  Of course my foster family is nice, but this is just a stop-off in my life journey and nothing beats a real home.  Your home could be my final destination, so I do hope you can come and meet me.  Hey, and don’t bother to wear your kilt.   Just come in your comfy cloths so I can snuggle in to your lap and see if I fit.

Look for the PAWS booth at the upcoming Wakefield Festival by the Lake on June 11 and the Reading Friends and Family Day on June 16.  We will also be sharing a booth with VCA Wakefield at the Stoneham Kiwanis Dog Show, also on June 16.  These events are a great opportunity to talk to us about our animals and learn more about the services we provide to our communities.
