Two Televisions Stolen from Walmart, North Reading
The following information was supplied by the North Reading police department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
The following is a look at some of the calls handled by the North Reading Police Department from Wednesday through Thursday. The information is open to the public.
Wednesday, Sept. 12
- At 10:30 a.m., an employee from Walmart reported that two males entered the store twice and stole two flat screen televisions.
- At 1:35 p.m., a Greenbriar Drive resident reported a jewelry theft.
Thursday, Sept. 13
- At 10:28 a.m., a caller reported ID theft.
- At 10:46, a caller reported that a car cut him off and forced him to side of the road on Main Street.
- At 12:00 p.m., a caller reported a car accident on Concord St. No injuries were reported.
- At 1:43 p.m., a caller reported that three people went down a stairway at a business on Main Street and were out of sight for several minutes. After investigating, police found a baggie with class D residue. The information was passed on to detectives.
- At 2:09 p.m., a caller reported a needle on the side of Old Andover Road. Police disposed of the needle.
- At 3:11 p.m., a caller reported erratic operation on Main Street.

Wow! I'm surprised they got out of the store with all the surveilence in place overhead. Yup, those all bubbles in the ceiling are big brother watching. Perhaps they were napping. LOL

Those cameras are used to look at suspects after the fact. They do not pay someone to watch the cameras constantly

The greeter will interrogate you at the door and check your bag to barcode any return that you bring in, even with a receipt (returns ares made @ service desk right next to front door), but apparently they don't pay attention what is already happening in the store. So, the 2 men who not only were able to steal a TV a first time, but apparently were able to return to take another.

I was told they no longer have a greeter at the door of Walmart to save money. Maybe they should put one back there.

Well said Jim. I wonder how many tax dollars we have lost so far at the old S&S building. I really do not think companies are beating down the doors of S&S to move in there. I sure hope the FEW who were oposed to OSJL approve of the next company that looks at it. But if they do not it is only lost tax dollars ! So continue going to the store in Saugus it is great.

Why am I not surprised Joe, should have known from the signs you were a fan of OSGL. Personally don't like places like that or S&S situated across from where I attend church on Sunday. Was opposed to S&S way back then. Zoning in that area is terrible, and what they did to the front of St. Theresa's church, by placing that huge mountain of mulch to screen out Super Stop & Shop. Hey, since they went belly up, can we take down mulch mountain?

Whether open or closed, S&S should still be paying their real state property taxes, or face the consequences just like any one else who doesn't pay. That is revenue in my book.
