VOTE: Video Battle of the Bands Final Round

Choose your favorite out of the six finalists.

 

Twenty-four submissions are now down to six finalists competing to take the top prize in Patch's Video Battle of the Bands.

Six bands and individuals, ranging the gamut from rock to rap, square off to see who will win the grand prize, which includes headlining a show at the Harp in Boston in June.

The top two vote getters from each regional competition who are now in the finals are:

Forget the Former and The Truezoos from the North Shore/Merrimack Valley regional round.

The President featuring L.E.S White and Scotty and the Gang from the Greater Boston regional round.

BlackLight SunRise and DCLA (Dukes County Love Affair) from the South Shore/Cape Cod and the Islands regional round.

Voting for the final round will run until noon on Friday, May 18. Please vote by telling us your choice in the comment section below the article. One vote per person per day please. Note: This contest is running on more than 30 sites across Eastern Massachusetts and we will be adding up the votes from all the participating sites.

Mike Parker of Tisbury; Jamie Greene of West Tisbury; John Stanwood of West Tisbury; and Phil Darosa of Chilmark

The winner of the final round will win a rockstar prize pack! The grand prize winner will headline a gig at The Harp in Boston, as well as receive a custom -designed event poster from Plymouth graphic designer allisonkathleen, a cut/color at Avanti Hair Salon, a party bus ride around Boston on Bustonian Party Bus and lunch at M.J. O'Connor's!

Let us know your favorite band in the comment section! The grand prize winner will be announced on Monday, May 21.

I am sick of the bands comments, the Patch was better when the regional stuff was kept off. Isnt there some way voting could have been done w/out 500 posts to vote? Seems like a low tech way to cast votes and a mess if you want to read non band related messages

Well, here's a thought TJ, if you're sick of the band's comments, then don't click on this thread.

Since it would be much easier for Patch editors to monitor and count votes if an anonymous poll was used, my good sense tells me that the commenting system was chosen instead because it's an easy way to gain more users. More users means more money.

Patch would not host this competition if nothing could be gained from it.

Hello Michelle, I'm the drummer from said band. The audio from the video was from a recording we made when we went to a local studio, and the video is from a collection of videos we have made. For example the videos of my drumming were made in my garage and other shots were done at some of our previous gigs. Then we synced up the audio and video in a video editing software (I'm not sure which one we used for this one) to create the video you see here.

I think the Patch did the poll this way to boost the number of Comments to the site, thus making themselves (or perhaps upper management) believe that readership or participation has not been decimated by the decision to merge the two towns into one site.

Hi Donna and Melissa. I can tell you that the reason for voting in this manner was because we have not yet improved our polling system to the point where the system could not be "gamed". We felt this was the fairest way. That said, we are hearing the concerns about the comment flood and will take that into consideration in planning next year's contest.

Jay you know nothing about these kids so please keep those oh so wise comments to yourself. They do everything on their own. And yes, guess what? We are voting for them...what a shocker! And in case you have not read all of the comments, we have not once put down any other bands. These kids also want the best band to win and if it means it is not them so be it. You have no idea how mature these kids are and would be very happy for any band that wins. So please stop commenting in what you think you know. Hey people, I am the singer and guitarist for The Truezoos. Where are the positive mental attitudes? It seems like we're coming to this website with a negative disposition. This isn't good for anyone; The Patch, The Truezoos, our fans, or any of the other bands. We all must remember this is just one little contest and in the grand scheme of things it does not matter who wins. Let's try to have some fun, keep it fair, and stop attacking each other. I play music to bring people together and make them happy, this is seeming to be the antithesis of that.
