What Should Go Here?

What would you like to see in the Piccadilly Pub building?

The Piccadilly Pub on Main Street closed it doors earlier this month.

Although the restaurant says that they are temporarily closed, they do not have a date scheduled to re-open. According to their corporate office, information on why they closed has not been released yet.

Last May, the company closed its Tewksbury location after nearly 30 years. The Westboro-based chain said the closing was because of the economy.

As part of our new What Should Go Here? column, we want to know what you would like to see go into that location. Let us know in the comments section.

I agree with Laura Kernan...something healthy and local like the Sol Bean Cafe in Middleton. Enough of the Pizza and Roast Beef already!

How about a restaurant that focuses on healthy and local foods. Or a store that focuses on organic and/or locally grown fresh fruits and veggies, meats, dairy etc. This is something you can find in the towns surrounding North Reading (Reading, Andover, Middleton etc.) but not so much in North Reading. It would support the local economy and workers, as well as people's health.

No more franchise restaurants please! Reading has some amazing restaurants: Venetian Moon, Pavarotti's, Grumpy Doyle's. We could use similar places.

How about a big cell tower disguised as a pine tree on top of an Ocean State Job Lot store? ;-)

Looks like the Pic is gone for good. There is a "For Lease by Owner" sign on the building.

A sure sign that Pic wasn't coming back soon, was the big dumpster outside, when they cleaned out their restaurant equipment. The fact that several Pic sites closed at the same time tells me that the corporate organization got into financial trouble. But nobody knows the 'inside' story? Any former Pic employees on Patch? I don't buy the Pic corporate answer of "temporarily closed" for a minute. And "the economy" would have closed an at-risk business two years ago. Ashley, there's a bigger story here ...

BTW, love the 'For lease' sign! Bill makes a good point.
