Each week, Reading Patch will select a Whiz Kid of the Week. This week, we chose Robert Tarasuk, a 7-year-old Wood End Elementary student. Alexander is a young gymnast on Gym Street USA's gymnastics team.
- Robert Tarasuk, age 7
- Wood End Elementary School
- Robert Tarasuk is a member of the Gym Street USA boy’s gymnastics team. He qualified for the Men’s state competition, held in Sterling this weekend and next weekend.
- This was Roberts first year on the team. As a level 4 gymnast, he qualified for States in his very first meet and since then has been taking top honors in every meet he has competed in.
“I really like gymnastics” Robert said.
His mom says that he has been flipping and standing on his head since he could move around the floor. One of Roberts’s coaches says “Robert has a strength that most boys his age take a few years to develop; he goes out there and does moves of a level 5 or even 6 in some cases. He is a natural at this sport and we expect big things from him.”
In his last competition, Robert took first place over all out of 45 level 4 boys of all ages.
“My favorite event is the floor exercise,” said Robert. “Then the P bars (parallel bars).”
