Aw shucks Karl Weld's not running again. Oh well at least we've got his buddies running, Marsie and David M. They'll turn this town back to the right...good luck

Back to the right? It's worth noting that among candidates in contested races who have won Reading since 2010 are Charlie Baker, Richard Tisei, Scott Brown (twice), Craig Spadafora, Karyn Polito & Mary Z. Connaughton....all Republicans if you're keeping score at home. Democrat wins in that same period? President Obama (2012) and John Tierney (2010).

Sorry Brandon, I was sticking to this particular story re: local candidates only. For those keeping score, we are all well aware of Reading's reputation of having a majority of liberals sitting on their two most powerful boards (BOS and School Comm) not to mention the makeup of the Town Meeting membership. The Selectmen majority is about to shift to the right but as long as TM has a solid majority of non-right wingers, the Town will be just fine.

I think you're overestimating the impact of political affiliaition as it relates to town government, but I get your point. I just wanted to point out that "back to the right" seemed strange to me when we've voted for the more fiscally conservative candidate in more than 70% of races the last couple years.
