This past Monday, the girls Varsity basketball team traveled to Pentucket Regional High School.
Throughout the first half, both teams competed well. The girls had many steals and persevered through a tall, athletic Pentucket team.
At halftime, the Hornets were down 9. Coach DeSantis was happy with their effort and competitiveness against such a strong team.
Hebert was held to 8 points on the game by a relentless Pentucket defense. Defensively, Lauren had many blocks and steals as well. Witzgall had 2 points.
Sophomores Castro and Maiola combined for 10 points, both with 5. Reilly followed close behind with 4. All three sophomores played with a sense of urgency throughout the game.
Juniors McCauley and Eisenhaure combined for 3 points.
Merri Moise and Alyssa Morahan also contributed. Both played great defense and had many strong passes offensively.
The Hornets ended up losing 46-27. Despite the 19 point deficit, Coach DeSantis appreciated the girls' determination to never give up. Pentucket was one of the strongest teams they faced this season.
