There has been much discussion in the past few months about North Reading's secondary school building project. Tuesday night, members of the Secondary School Building Committee and representatives from the architectural firm, construction management company and the owners project manager will hold the first of three public information sessions to update the community on the project's status.
Beginning at 7 p.m. in the North Reading High School auditorium, the meeting will give residents additional detail regarding budget issues, provide a list of items that have been removed from the project or revised in order to meet the construction budget approved last March by voters, and review the brief project history. There also will be discussion regarding items the SSBC recommends be added back to the project.
Residents should make an effort to attend this meeting to get the facts about the project in order to make an informed decision at the special town meeting and special election, expected to take place in March. Following a presentation, there will be time for attendees to ask all their questions about the project.
Additional sessions are scheduled for February 28 and March 14 and more information will be provided as it becomes available from the project's professional team.
The high school/middle school project is critical to the future of North Reading. Residents need accurate and factual information, and getting it directly from the SSBC and the project team is the best way to achieve this. I hope to see you Tuesday night.
