A cat named after a car? It all started when a woman phoned to report kittens and a mom living in an old abandoned VW bug. As we peered into the car’s dusty windows, kittens stared back, with shy, but curious faces (they were used to seeing humans due to being fed).

Once all were trapped, we learned the mother cat’s owner moved away and just left her behind. They also didn’t bother with her much, because she was fearful of people. So we spent enormous hours socializing them. The kittens all found homes so mom once again got left behind by her family.

It’s been over a year in foster care for Lexus. We are thrilled to see the work she has done to break through her shyness, to learn to trust, allowing her sweet personality to blossom.

With her short, luxurious fur, Lexus is a stunning brown tabby with white bib and paws and tender emerald eyes that plead for love. At about two-years-old, she is fine around dogs and cats and her energy is low key, playing mostly at night.  Lexus can be held and no longer squirms to get away. She thoroughly enjoys her patting sessions, belly rubs, paws massaged and nose to nose rubs. Her foster mom adores their cute morning routine, Lexus jumps from her bed and performs a little dance routine and with a soft sweet cry, she kneads patiently while awaiting love. Shy until she gets to know you, Lexus would do well in a quiet home. This gentle cat is just waiting for her special car ride home.
