With the recent news that the High School/ MiddleSchool project is over budget and has several major design flaws, its time to halt further expenditures, and review such poor planning. Soil test failures, roof design failures, lack of adequate storm runoff seems to be just the beginning. Mr. Mauceri can blame the architect and project manager all he chooses, but the fact remains the SSBC hired them as their advisers. Mr. Delaney has accepted full responsibility for this project from his previous public statements. He fails to realize that it is the entire Board of Selectman that bears responsibility. They have to take the responsibility from the membership of the SSBC and manage the project themselves. It will take political leadership to take such a direction, but they are elected to lead, not follow. The Board of Selectman must realize that the current progress of this $110M project is quickly eroding the public trust. Show the leadership that you promised as you campaigned. Its needed now! The largest tax increase and public construction expenditure is in the balance. Time to step up!
