Bunratty Tavern Owner Hoping for August Opening

The interior and exterior of the building still need work.

Back in January, Eilish Havey and her husband Jim were hoping to open the Bunratty Tavern this month. However, the process is not moving as quickly as they would like and the couple is now planning for an August opening. The tavern will open at 622 Main St. in the M.F. Charles Building and Havey is waiting for the landlord to obtain a building permit and resurface the roof, she said. The owner still has a lot of work to do on the exterior, including painting and completing the patio area, but once the roof is complete Havey can begin work on the interior. The windows and doors are being made off site and she expects them soon. "We'll be working side by side with him [the landlord] getting the inside finished while he gets the outside …

Your Next Car: What's It Going to Be?

I'm hoping to drive my old beater into the ground before we need to get another car, but I'm on the lookout. What's your next car going to be?

My wife and I drive a perfectly good 2002 Nissan Sentra with 127,318 miles on it. "Stella" has four wheels and gets us from Point A to Point B.   We've reached the stage in the life of the car where we don't repair body damage (as you can tell from the accompanying photo). I'm ashamed for my Dad to see it. But hey, it's paid for. Even though I'd love to get 200K miles out of Stella, she has some mechanical problems, like a seized bolt that has left the transmission fluid unchangeable for about eight years. She could conk out any old day. So we've been on the lookout for our next car. I'm paying attention to car commercials, asking friends about their cars. You know the feeling. Reading-North Reading Chamber Celebrates Women in Business and Entertainment

The Women Celebrating Business and Entertainment expo is May 17.

The Reading-North Reading Chamber of Commerce is hosting their 6th Annual “Women Celebrating” business expo fundraiser on May 17 at 6:30 p.m. at the Boston/Woburn Hilton Hotel in Woburn. Thirty-five vendors selling items such as handbags, jewelry and clothing will attend. Food from local restaurants such as the Horseshoe Grille, Not Your Average Joe’s, Bertucci’s and more will be available. The event will feature musical entertainment as well as a Zumba dance performance.
