If you have any interest in Reading’s history, you’ll find no better place to learn about it than at the library. The building and organization itself unites two strains of the towns history—it’s two century book-lending tradition and its tradition of strong public schools. Up until 1981, the building currently known as the Reading Public Library served as the Highland School, and it’s structure demonstrates its history. Demolition crews may have taken down the Atlantic Market, but a piece of it still remains. Following the close of the market, some of the meat department's former customers urged Greg Chesnulovitch to keep the the butcher portion of the operation going.
